Attorney Center Wins $300,000 Verdict

On Thursday September 1, 2022, a Kennebec County Superior Court Jury awarded Attorney Harry B. Center, II’s client $300,000. The trial was held at the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta before Superior Court Justice William Stokes. The case involved a 2013 motor vehicle collision. Center’s client suffered an injury to her low back, which was treated conservatively for nearly four years, culminating in a lumbar fusion surgery. The opposing insurance company argued that Center’s client did not injure her low back in the collision and that her complaints were caused by degenerative changes and prior complaints. The jury rejected those arguments.

Attorney Center said, “ I’m extremely pleased with the verdict and thankful to the jury for their attention to the medical evidence.”

Supporting the client’s medical causation case was a physical medicine specialist who ultimately had to refer the client to surgery. The opposing insurance company hired a neurosurgeon to review the client’s medical records, and the jury rejected his opinions. Lastly, Center added, “I’m most pleased for our client, it has been a long haul for her both physically and mentally, as well as seeing the litigation through with all the delays due to the excessive criminal docket, then Covid closures.”
